About the Temple

The Temple is located on a large lake next to a wilderness area in the wine growing area of Lake County in northern California. There is a meeting area on the main floor and upstairs contains the library and the inner sanctum. The inner sanctum part of the temple is sacred space. It is intended for doing practices and rituals. To keep this space sacred, it is not used for sleep or casual conversations.

There is a trail that leaves from our property that provides hours of hiking and bird watching in the wilderness area. Another way to explore is by kayak. The Temple has a boat house that houses several kayaks, as well as a couple of bicycles. Just a few feet from the boat house is the Temple’s private dock that makes getting the kayaks into the water easy.

Outdoor decks on the main level and lower level are great for bird watching, outdoor dining, sun bathing, and doing yoga. There are private bedrooms for retreat participants. Most stay in the sun room with windows on three sides that overlooks the lake. All food at the Temple is strictly vegetarian. The drinking water is purified by reverse osmosis. In the event of a power outage, the Temple has a backup gas generator to provide basic electrical power while the outage is being restored.

We are less than a half hour drive from Harbin Hot Springs and many plan a visit to the Hot Springs either before or after a retreat at the Temple.
